Adaora Vanessa Mofunanya is a UK-based fashion designer, and the heart behind Dela-Fin. a handmade luxury fashion house she built from the ground up. She moves easily between couture, ready-to-wear, and custom commission, but holds herself to one standard no matter the piece: everything is designed, cut, and finished by her own hands.

For Adaora, it always starts with paper. Every collection begins as a series of croquis sketches, the margins filled with notes on fabric and construction, a marble-print crop dress here, a check fringed trouser there, a fully oversized cocoon blazer scribbled in the corner. By the time an idea reaches the mannequin, it has usually grown bolder than the sketch that started it.

What sets Dela-Fin apart is as much about touch as it is about colour. Hand-crocheted 3D florals, faux fur dyed and worked into asymmetric wraps and trims, satin left to fall in soft drapes, and African wax prints layered against sculptural, corset-built silhouettes. it's a wardrobe that stretches from red-carpet eveningwear and full runway couture down to hand-embellished footwear, accessories, and loungewear stitched with the Dela-Fin name. Every piece, however different, is held to the same handmade standard.

That standard didn't go unnoticed. In December 2025, Adaora was named the AFAA 2025 Emerging Innovative Fashion Designer of the Year by the African Fashion and Arts Award recognised, as Independent Online News put it, “for her work in modern African fashion and creative thinking.”
